We are firm believers that our children are the ones to carry on our Cultural and Traditional ways. So the more time we spend with them, the more knowledge we can pass on to future generations.

The Guardian Program has concerns about Mammals, Birds, Reptiles, and Amphibians that are Endangered, Threatened, or of Special Concern. Here is a list of creatures we are trying to track on our traditional lands.

Means we, the smelqmix, have the primary role in protecting and conserving the ecosystems on our territory through smelqmix/ syilx laws, governance and knowledge systems. In addition to the n?aysnuls?x watershed, smelqmix elders have identified the cktpikn (Olalla Highlands), the ska?itk (Skagit), and the akttulmn (Tulameen) as priority areas that are needed to sustain the water and ecosystems of our homeland.
